GLOBAL AMAZONIA - visual facade theater with live video projections and live music

Grotest Maru present the piece Global Amazonia in the week of Earth Overshoot Day - a breathtaking facade production in the air and on the ground that artistically negotiates the issues of climate change and species extinction. The event will take place on the grounds of the "Stasi Headquarters. Campus for Democracy". Guided tours of the grounds will take place beforehand.

GLOBAL AMAZONIA

Aerial dancers explore their biotope on vertical surfaces as lively geckos They team up with a climate activist and fight for their habitat.

GLOBAL AMAZONIA is an associative simultaneous theatre that combines a breath-taking aerial performance, vertical theatre, audience-oriented actions on the ground, large-scale, sensual video projections and an intense musical soundtrack.

GLOBAL AMAZONIA was developed in cooperation with the Kleist Forum Frankfurt/Oder and funded by the Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten (Society for the Exploitation of Neighbouring Rights) and the Fonds Darstellende Künste (Performing Arts Fund) with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of NEUSTART KULTUR.

Grotest Maru was founded in 1996 in Berlin and creates theatre in public space, as image, object and body theatre.


Stasi Headquarters. Campus for Democracy

For 40 years, it was the headquarters of the Ministry for State Security before courageous citizens occupied the site in 1990 and sealed the end of the secret police. Since then, the site has been used for education about the SED dictatorship.

Prior to the theater performance, two guided tours will be offered between 7:30 and 8:30 pm.

  •     Guided tour 1: "Revolution and Fall of the Wall". Duration: 30 to 45 min.

The exhibition documents the most important stages of the Peaceful Revolution. More than 650 impressive pictures, historical documents and films show the social upheaval in the fall of 1989 up to the storming of the Stasi headquarters on January 15, 1990.

  •     Guided tour 2: "Insight into the secret". Duration: 30 to 45 min.

The exhibition shows the basics and contents of the archive of the GDR secret police. With walk-through files, interactive media stations and original objects, "Insight into the Secret" makes it possible to grasp the holdings of the Stasi documents at the historical site.


Admission to the guided tours is free, and advance registration is not necessary.
