KINO Al- AMIR - a cinema in exile. The KINO Project is a travelling film theatre that transforms very different places into a temporary cinema, showing artistic video works and amateur films on 16 & 8mm. After an in-depth research of the local cinema history, especially the movie theatres that closed down, the Kino Project takes the name of a former cinema. For a few nights, the cinema of our choice will be revived in a different location in the public space. In this 10th and special edition of Kino Projekt, we would like to relocate Cinema Al-Amir from Aleppo (Syria) to Berlin. In 2011 we traveled to Aleppo to prepare the cinema project, which could not be realized until today due to the outbreak of the Syrian civil war. Now the cinema Al-Amir takes place in Berlin in the form of a drive-in cinema, with a rich program spread over three evenings, of course with a special focus on Lebanon, Syria and the MENA region.
